Additional Details
P. Hanratty, 9 Earl St., Dundalk, Co. Louth. 2.5 pence. AE 23 mm., 4.31 g. Rice 198; Todd 23. Value in wreath of shamrocks, P. HANRATTY and 9.ERL St. DUNDALK around. Rx Bust Queen Victoria w I C P below, VICTORIA REGINA around. The directories give a James Hanralty (sic), Bridge St., grocer and spirit dealer, who was there in 1870; in 1881, a Patrick Hanratty was a wholesale dealer at 100 Park St., and a spirit and porter dealer, here and at Quay St., where in 1891, a Patrick Hanralty (sic) was a spirit dealer and at 20 Anne St. This info from Slater's Directories. In the P.V.O. records, Patrick Dowdall was registered owner of 9 Earl St., Dundalk, from 1856-1878. Though the picture is a little confused , the Hanratty connection with 9 Earl St. seems adequately established.
Very Fine and very rare. $400.
